Thank you for giving me these useful links. We will certainly consider doing article request in order to boost the number of Shona language articles on Wikipedia. Our initial campaign on various forums including Facebook has certainly increased the number of articles being added to this Shona version of Wikipedia. Mailele: I also saw the incorrect spelling. I did not write the menu translation. I have also not figured out how to do this yet. If someone does not make the correction, then this may have to wait until I get time to figure out how to translate the Wikimedia software user interface menus. I don't think its difficult but I just do not have time at the moment.

Translated logo for this wiki

Hello! We have noticed that your wiki's current logo is not translated. We are trying to help Wikipedias get a localised logo, by taking the technical difficulties on us. We currently don't know how to translate "Wikipedia" and "The Free Encyclopedia" to the language of this wiki: it would be really helpful if you could just add the correct translations to the list of logos or tell us on its talk. Logo Translation for Shona (sn)

Here is the Shona (sn) language translation of the terms on the Wikipedia Logo:

   Wikipedia (en) = Wikipidhiya (sn)
   The Free Encylopedia (en) = Dura reRuzivo Rakasungunuka - Mukuumba, Mukushandisa noMukudyidzana (sn)

Note that the concept of "free" in this case incorporate the two concepts, namely, as in "free beer" and in "freedom". Further more, it is understood that people are free to contribute, to use and to share the information in Wikipedia. These concepts have different terms in Shona language. This makes it difficult to compress all the concepts in "free" into one Shona word. We would like the Shona people to know, though the logo, that, with Wikipedia, there is freedom to access information, to contrubute information and also to share with others. The above translation is the shortest text that I could manage to find so as to convey these concepts in a compact form. If the logo could afford to have "The Free Encyclopedia" in two lines, this would be really appreciated. For example:

Line 1:"Dura reRuzivo Rakasungunuka"

Line 2:"Mukuumba, Mukushandisa noMukudyidzana"

Explanation of the two lines is as follows:

Line 1: The Free Encyclopedia (BUT in Shona the term free without elaboration makes sense with respect to people, for objects/things you have to elaborate the thing/object's freedom)

Line 2: in Contribution, Use and Sharing (this is the elaboration)

The two lines together would convey the accurate message of the logo to the Shona people.

We would appreciate any technical help in creating the translated logo.

Thank you. odder will create the logo soon (he deserves all the merit) and then I'll get it enabled in a few weeks. I'm sorry but the rules don't allow a second line. However, I suggest you to add that explanation to MediaWiki:Tagline, so it would be visible on all pages. You can request someone to do it for you at m:Steward requests/Miscellaneous, saying that it's the translation of "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: in contribution, use and sharing" (at least in English you need the "From" and it doesn't have to be uppercase, I don't know in your language). --Nemo bis (talk) 09:05, 16 Kurume 2013 (UTC)
