Razemba

Kubva Wikipedia

Razemba izita remhuri rinowanikwa muZimbabwe. Mostly in Mutasa Area near Manica Bridge under Chief Mutasa. The family totem is Shumba Gwara the same used by Mutasa and Murahwa families. Some are in Bocha Marange area while others can be found in the Honde Valley area.Oral tradition has it that Razemba gad to flee to modern day Mozambique area to avoid being killed by jealous cousins because he was next in line for the chieftains. Upon arrival in the area he assumed the name Razemba instead of Mutasa in order to evade detection and identification. Some say Razemba is related to the word ZEMBA which means to hide while others say Razemba means RARAMBA... Probably saying RARAMBA REKUVA MAMBO ( The quest for chieftains has failed). Either way, Razemba remains very close to Mutasa. When a Razemba family member dies, the royal Mutasa drum is beat. They call it Shima. No field work is done when the Shima is heard until the burial ceremony is done.
